Sarah Paterson

Duathlon

Sarah Paterson was born in New Zealand, but grew up in England. As a teenager, she excelled at Music and sport and attended Trinity College of Music under a full scholarship, studying oboe and piano. She also developed her love of running and represented her club at county and national level. At 17, she came 3rd in the English Under 18 800m on the track. Later, as a mother of two, she won the National Masters Games in New Zealand over the same distance.

Sarah bought her first ever bicycle in 2016. She enjoyed the social side of cycling and the regular café stops! In 2019, she entered her first duathlon, a sprint (5K run, 20k cycle, 2.5K run) and hasn’t looked back. Sarah qualified for the GB team and took part in the European Age-group Champs In Punta Umbria, Spain in March 2020, finishing sixth. She has also qualified for the World Champs, which have been deferred to 2021.

Although fiercely competitive, Sarah insists that she doesn’t take her training too seriously. “Life is about balance. I still enjoy a drink and night out with friends. I just try to live by the old adage of everything in moderation.”

Dr Weil’s spray on action plaster: “I was a little sceptical when I first used the spray as I couldn’t see how it would make that much difference, but I was willing to give it a try. Like many female runners, I suffer with chafing from my bra, particularly in the warmer months and/or when I am doing a long run. I have used the spray, layering it 2-3 times over the potential affected area, and I am pleased to say that I have experienced no chafing whatsoever. No unsightly plasters peeling off and no soreness!”
